Peter Okoye, a top Nigerian singer, was recently caught out as a victim of fraud: he was impersonated in order to scam innocent people.
Peter Okoye took to his official Instagram page to show his fans the tactics of these fraudsters and how they operate, by exhibiting an example of one in action.
The fraudster’s target, while speaking with the music star on the video call, attempted to call back the criminal to illustrate the situation to the singer.
This impersonator was trying to dupe people into believing they were actually speaking to the celebrity, making use of an old video recording of the singer as if it were truly the him on the call.
In this instance, Peter Okoye PSquare caught the moment on video, when the fraudster called back, pretending to be the singer, whilst also claiming he had a show to go to—unaware that he had been exposed.
It was clear the fraudster’s video and speech lacked consistency, as he was only using the singer’s image to deceive and cheat others.
