March 24, 2023, ODUMODUBLVCK comes through with a brand new song title “Declan Rice” to kick start the new year. NATIVE Records drops this single as a follow up to the rapper’s last record- ‘PICANTO’ which was recently endorsed by Afrobeats star, Wizkid.
“Declan Rice” is here to take over charts like ‘Picanto’, according to ODUMODUBLVCK the new song was inspired by West Ham United captain (Declan Rice). The England professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder, is his favourite Premier League player.
Born in Lagos and raised in Abuja, Nigeria, ODUMODUBLVCK is one of the most exciting voices out of the country’s capital in the last decade. Whilst being a pioneering voice of Drill music in Nigeria, he operates under a self-defined genre he calls Okporoko Rhythms: a form of Hip-Hop that takes influences from Grime, Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat, and Progressive R&B. This musical core informs his deep, thoughtful lyricism which takes centre-stage on every track and stage he graces.
“A sweet misery, a beautiful melody,” ODUMODUBLVCK says of his emotional, autobiographical mood music. He is determined to prove that artists from Africa can be whatever they want to be. Initially only getting into music after his dreams of being a footballer were cut short by an untimely injury, he quickly realised he had a natural magnetism whenever he picked up a microphone, and hasn’t put one down since.
As a lover of football, he made a record for one of his favourite footballer and titled it after his name- “Declan Rice”. On it Odumodublvck says he can never be moved and intimidated (See Lyrics Here!). Listen and Enjoy!!!
